Obviously, the first thing is to check if your site qualifies to be listed as an activity in our database.

If not - but you think your site is relevant to our visitors, and vice versa - maybe we can exchange links.

At our end, we would include a link to your site under the "Related Sites" heading on the appropriate category or sub-category page - so your link is beside the most relevant content.

In return, we'd be looking for a text link from your site to either our home page or to a suitable category or sub-category page.

Generally speaking, we encourage relevant links deep into the relevant category of our site rather than just to our home page.

We are very happy to do non-reciprocal linking. That's where you link to one of our categories, but we link back to you from a different category. This avoids simply ping-ponging visitors and offers more interesting new paths.

Links to our home page should go to http://www.scotivity.co.uk (no trailing slash) with the link text "Activities in Scotland".

A link from a site about favourite mountain bike routes might link to our category http://www.scotivity.co.uk/activities/Bike/Mountain_Bike/Mountain_Bike_Routes with the link text "Mountain Bike Routes in Scotland". (You can usually see our preferred linking text in the Title bar for the page.)

A link from a site about things to do in Fife might link to our regional search http://www.scotivity.co.uk/cgi-bin/activlinks/search.cgi?d=1&query=&catonlyresults=1&Activity_Region=Fife with the link text "Activities in Fife".

Making it Happen

Add our link according to the guidelines above and email us where you put the link, the URL you would like us to link back to, and the link text you would like us to use (if necessary)

We want to swap links with relevant sites, so we're not hung up on stuff like your Google PR or Alexa rating. But please don't bother if:

• You have more than 20 link swaps on a page
• You swap with any old site, whether or not it's relevant
• You use any reciprocal link management service or software
